About Us

We are a multidisciplinary team of neuroscientists, engineers, health professionals, artists and students developing neurotechnologies for the restoration and rehabilitation of cognitive-motor function in people with mental and movement disabilities. We also work at the interface of the arts and engineering, uncovering the relations between perception, cognition and action and brain activity across the lifespan Our work is funded by National Science Foundation, Cullen Foundation, and others and the  Center for Advanced Computing and Data Systems at the University of Houston

The Brain on Arts study is funded by the National Science Foundation (#BCS 1533691) and is led by engineering professor Jose Luis Contreras-Vidal — to study connections between the brain and creativity, expression, and the perception of art.
